Competition law and policy emerges as the missing piece of the Philippines' development puzzle. While prior economic policy reforms yielded significant gains, sustaining them proved challenging because of the uneven playing field in the market which stifled innovation, deterred investments and undermined consumer welfare. However, the enactment of the comprehensive competition law laid down the path towards competitive markets, which would contribute to a sustainable and inclusive economy.
